EFE Project Steering Committee Meeting
The EFE project (Education/Training For Employment) in Colombia had its first formal steering committee meeting in Bogota today. From CIDA/DFATD there was a Manager from Ottawa and two staff members from the Canadian Embassy here. From ACCC Ottawa we had Paul Brennan (VP) and our Senior Project Officer. From SENA we had a variety of people and as guests we also had a few observers from national Ministries and Agencies.
After an excellent presentation on the work done so far by the SENA team, we discussed the plans for the coming year as well as formally approved our "Project Implementation Plan". The "open floor" resulted in lively discussions and insightful observations. The "dream" for the longer term is big, but "we keep our feet on the ground" in the sense of what we can achieve during the coming three years (shorter term results with measurable indicators).
I have worked with the SENA team to get here and gave today a brief presentation on the activities we hope to complete between now and March 2014.
In the evening I took Paul for a drink to the Bogota Beer Factory where we met with Cameron Glass, a Canadian entrepreneur who "set up shop" here in Colombia four years ago.
Tomorrow Paul flies back to Canada and I fly to Cartagena and afterwards to Medellin to do some further planning work with the SENA teams of the Bolivar and Antioquia provinces.
