Medellin is the second largest city of Colombia and last month it won a global award as the most innovative city in the world (beating New York City in the final round), in big part because of their public transport city. It is the only city in Colombia with a Metro system and they have also a cable cart transport up on one of the mountains, leading to a national park. Here a few views from the cable cart going:
The higher you go, the poorer the housing becomes. This is all again all "invasion" of people who come from rural areas. Much of this happened during the fifty years of internal conflict of the country during which the city almost doubled in size.
This is the tope of the mountain where they have a beautiful and well organized national park
You can go around in the bus on foot (fantastic treks), by historic bus or.... on the bicycle....
Sandra tried to get me to try some of the local sweets, but I opted for a good cup of organic coffee
A great city, leading the country in many ways "by example"....
