Second shot

Today received my second COVID vaccination shot. What a weird year and half this has been for the world. Let's see how things further develop.....
 

Sisters in Holland

My two older sisters in Holland, Ger (75) and Han (73) are doing well and stay healthy. Ger and her husband Bert have always been campers and they continue to go for a few weeks each summer to the south of France. They were not able to go last year because of the COVID pandemic, but this year it was allowed to travel within Europe again. They take their time driving south in a few days, camping on the way in a small mini tent. At the camping near the Mediterranean Sea they set up a larger tent where they stay three weeks. A few other couples - longtime friends from Holland - do the same and each afternoon they have drinks at the beach. Bert cycles and canoes. My sister Ger takes it easy...

Mark's 27th birthday

Mark turned 27 today; time flies. The photo above was taken on July 11, 2010, the day that Holland played Spain during the final at the World Cup in South Africa. Now already 11 years ago....

Then Mark in his glory and good humor during high school years. Now Mark being a busy plant manager in Toronto and proud house owner together with Carly. Time flies.... Happy BD, son!

Friday Fish

Joe had bought Opa some fish for Father's Day. Chef Sue prepared it yesterday. Opa enjoyed it!

Fathers Day

Yesterday Mary and I hosted this year's Fathers Day with the Vandenbooms, Lairds and Nolles getting together again for the first time in a year and half. Last time was Christmas 2019, and then came the COVID pandemic. Hilary and Shayd Facetimed in from Vancouver.

Mary bought her Dad this excellent clock and calendar for his Fathers Day. 

Six years ago

Hilary took this photo six years ago when we spent a few days together in Sydney. Hilary spend a full year in Australia and traveled before and after in Thailand, Indonesia and the Philippines
 

Electric car in the family

Susan and Ralph decided to go the no-emission route with their new car. Yesterday they picked up their Hyundai e-car. Pretty cool. For the time being I am also zero emission, because the past year and half I have been in my car maybe six times....

Mark and Carly visited the Vandenboom gang in Sarnia last weekend. The boys played non-stop spike ball. Fun game. And Opa Vandenboom is finally allowed to be outside again....!

I try to keep up walking regularly - next to cycling every now and then with Mary and my exercises and stretches downstairs in the basement. My favorite walk is along a few hilly roads just outside of town.
