Mark & Carly married

Mark and Carly chose Prince Edward County (located a few hours north of Toronto along Lake Ontario) as the place where they wanted to get married. A small group of guests including direct family and a few of their friends were invited for whom they arranged three guest houses. Everybody arrived on Thursday May 8 for the wedding on Friday May 9.

Mark asked his sister Hilary to be the photographer during this event. A newly developed hobby of Hilary who wants to built a portfolio in order to do this maybe more often at events. The place of the above displayed pre-marriage photos was the nicest of the guest houses where the parties of Thursday and Friday evening + the brunch of Saturday took place.

The Vandenboom, Laird and Nolle family members stayed in a second guest house, and Carly's family members stayed in a third house. Fiona was the only one who had to miss the event, because she is working one year in Korea. But Mary organized a life-size photo of her to be here in spirit.

Fiona's photo was sitting next to her parents during the wedding ceremony. Poncho was one of the ring-bearers together with the dog of Carly's parents. A funny sight when they walked into the ceremony.

The brief wedding ceremony took place in a renovated barn next to a local museum, just perfectly offering room for about 30 people. Luckily we had nice weather. Hilary's partner Shayd was asked to be the unofficial official for the ceremony (after Carly and Mark had signed the official papers). Together with Hilary, Shayd had prepared a fun presentation which got many good laughs going...

After the ceremony Carly and Mark stepped on a tandem bike to go to the restaurant for the dinner. I was tasked with the making of a variety of signs. One can be seen at the back of the tandem bike. A serie of six other signs were placed on the way to the restaurant (a surprise for Carly).

The dinner was spectacular and there were three tables of 10. The bridal couple with their friends, and one table each for Mark and Carly's family members.

Saturday morning everybody came together again for a brunch organized by Hilary and Shayd, who had another star role as chef of amazing omelets. Apprentice Joe made his famous Dutch style pancakes and assisted Shayd with the omelets. The food was much appreciated after the Friday evening dancing which went into the early morning hours...

Of course proud mama Mary and aunt Susan did a ton of preparation work behind the scenes, but they were among the happiest in the crowd. Unfortunately Susan later made a tumble and broke her shoulder which will cause surgery. The majority of the wedding guests went biking in the area past a few local wineries during the Saturday afternoon, and it was all wrapped up with some pizzas on Saturday night. A beautiful sunset accompanied us at the event of the wonderful and exciting weekend....
